Steps
Design test environment

Identify logical and physical production environment elements that need to be tested and design a test environment based on this elements. Consider elements as computer hardware, network topology, WAN connections, domain architecture, services, databases, business applications, administrative tools, security model, application deployment methodology, and network server storage methods.

The test environment must simulates the production environment as closely as possible.

Create test data set

Prepare a proper test data set that will be used as input for executing the test cases. Consider the test data set needs identified.
